Location:
Salina, KS Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) care to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients across a broad spectrum of medical conditions within a hospital or outpatient setting. Your expertise will support patient recovery, ensure safety, and promote optimal health outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in acute care, critical thinking skills, and experience working with diverse patient populations, including those requiring complex medical interventions. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories to inform individualized care plans. Administer medications accurately, including injections and IV infusions, following aseptic techniques and hospital protocols. Monitor patients closely for signs of deterioration or complications, such as acute pain or infectious disease symptoms, and respond promptly. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans aligned with patient needs. Manage complex procedures such as catheterizations, wound suturing, and ventilator management while maintaining strict infection control standards. Document all patient interactions comprehensively within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide patient education on medication administration, post-discharge care, and lifestyle modifications to promote long-term health. Assist in triage processes for emergency or urgent care cases, prioritizing based on acuity levels. Support discharge planning by coordinating with case managers and ensuring patients understand their follow-up care instructions. Maintain proficiency in advanced skills such as trauma medicine, ICU procedures, and working with individuals with disabilities or memory care needs. Experience Candidates should possess a valid RN license and demonstrate extensive experience in diverse healthcare environments.
Preferred backgrounds include:
Critical care experience in ICU or Level I Trauma Center settings. Proven expertise in medical-surgical units handling acute pain management and complex patient cases. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation. Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and laboratory specimen collection/processing. Prior roles involving home & community care, hospice & palliative medicine, or long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities. Knowledge of occupational health protocols and infectious disease control measures. Skills in specialized procedures such as ostomy care, gastric lavage, sonography support, or neonatal ventilator management are advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
