Job Summary:
Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each patient regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) assigned to his/her care and is responsible for the patient's care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes, quality of care and initiates change through active involvement in unit-based and hospital shared- governance councils. National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for the registered nurse as he/she utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises appropriate nursing judgment. The registered nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes . Also, the registered nurse will serve as a role model by actively participating in the process of continuous professional development, teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time. 1.Assessment 2.Develops a plan of care 3.Provides care according to policy and procedure 4.Evaluates patient response to interventions 5.Organizational skills 6.Leadership skills and critical thinking Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required 1. Active Kentucky License 2. BCLS Required 3. ACLS Required 4. PALS Required 5. NIHSS Required 6.
BSN required except as noted:
Individuals hired as a Staff RN prior to October 1, 2013 are grandfathered and exempt from additional BSN requirements. Individuals hired as a Staff RN with at least 10 years of Staff RN experience who don't hold a BSN will be required to either (a) obtain a BSN by enrolling in a program within one year of hire and completing within 5 years of employment or (b) obtain a specialty certification within one year of employment. Individuals hired as a Staff RN with less than 10 years of Staff RN experience who don't hold a BSN will be required to obtain a BSN by enrolling in a program within one year of hire and completing within 5 years of employment.
