RN - ER Night Shift

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Emergency Room (ER) care during night shifts. As an RN in the ER, you will be at the forefront of emergency medicine, utilizing your expertise to assess, stabilize, and treat a diverse patient population. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries in the ER setting, including trauma, cardiac emergencies, infectious diseases, and pediatric emergencies. Perform thorough patient assessments by monitoring vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and evaluating physiological status to inform treatment plans. Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and sedation, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols. Manage airway maintenance with ventilator support when necessary and handle advanced procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and tube feeding. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient care activities precisely and efficiently while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, radiology staff, and case managers to coordinate urgent care interventions. Respond swiftly to emergency situations by implementing basic life support (BLS), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and trauma protocols aligned with Level I or Level II trauma center standards. Skills Extensive critical care experience within emergency departments or ICU settings, demonstrating proficiency in trauma medicine, acute pain management, and infectious disease care. Familiarity with advanced diagnostic evaluation tools such as laboratory testing, sonography, CT scans, and medical imaging modalities. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation and coding including

ICD-10/ICD-9

classifications. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for effective patient assessment and treatment planning. Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV insertion, catheter care, and sterile processing techniques. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics in memory or dementia care units, behavioral health patients, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Ability to work efficiently under pressure during high-volume shifts while maintaining excellent communication skills for triage and discharge planning.
