SHIFT:
Days Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse specializing in psychiatric and intake services to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of mental health assessment, patient triage, and crisis intervention, with the ability to provide exceptional nursing care in a fast-paced environment. This role involves conducting thorough patient evaluations, coordinating care plans, and supporting individuals with diverse mental health needs. The Registered Nurse Psych/Intake will play a vital role in ensuring timely, accurate assessments and delivering patient-centered care that aligns with best practices and regulatory standards. Responsibilities Perform detailed psychiatric assessments and intake evaluations for new patients, gathering comprehensive medical histories and current mental health status. Conduct triage to prioritize patient needs effectively, ensuring urgent cases receive prompt attention while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor. Administer medications, including injections such as botulinum toxin treatments when applicable, following prescribed protocols and safety procedures. Document patient information accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's unique needs, including those with developmental disabilities or memory care requirements. Provide education on medication administration, treatment options, and health coaching to patients and their families. Maintain sterile techniques during procedures such as suturing or specimen collection, adhering to infection control standards. Support patients experiencing acute pain or behavioral health crises by implementing appropriate interventions and facilitating referrals when necessary. Assist in discharge planning and coordinate follow-up care for post-acute or hospice patients to ensure seamless transitions across care settings. Experience Proven nursing experience in psychiatric settings, including inpatient units such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), ICU (Intensive Care Unit), or trauma centers; hospital medicine experience is highly valued. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and order entry. Familiarity with medical procedures including IV infusion, venipuncture, catheterization, tube feeding management, and ventilator support. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in specialized environments such as assisted living or memory care facilities. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation of diagnoses; understanding of CPT coding is advantageous for procedures documentation. Background in managing acute care cases involving infectious disease care, trauma medicine, or emergency medicine within Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred. Strong foundation in nursing practices including aseptic technique, physical examinations, medication administration, and patient assessment across diverse populations such as pediatrics and geriatrics. Prior experience in behavioral health settings focusing on pain management, case management, hospice & palliative medicine, or occupational health enhances suitability for this role.
