Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and highly skilled Registered School Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive healthcare services to students within the school(s) to which they are assigned. The School Nurse will play a critical role in supporting student health, wellness, and academic success by delivering direct nursing care, managing health records, collaborating with educational staff, and ensuring compliance with applicable state and district regulations. Previous school nursing experience is preferred but not required . Candidates with strong pediatric, community health, or clinical nursing backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Essential Responsibilities Serve as the primary school nurse for assigned school campus(es). Assess, monitor, and address student health needs during the school day. Provide care for students with chronic and complex medical conditions, including: Tracheostomies (trachs) Gastrostomy tubes (G-tubes) Diabetes management and monitoring Develop, maintain, and update student health records with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Participate in and support the development and implementation of student health plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Conduct required health screenings and follow-up activities in accordance with state and district guidelines. Train and educate non-medical school personnel on student health needs, emergency procedures, and medication administration as appropriate. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, physicians, and other healthcare providers to support student well-being. Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate nursing interventions. Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations, school policies, and nursing standards of practice. Promote health education and wellness initiatives throughout the school community. Qualifications Current, unrestricted Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license. Previous school nursing experience preferred, but not required. Experience caring for pediatric patients and students with complex medical needs is highly desirable. Knowledge of tracheostomy care, G-tube management, and diabetic student care. Familiarity with IEPs, student health plans, and school-based healthcare practices. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively train and support non-medical staff. Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and professionalism. Additional Requirements BSN preferred, but will accept ASN. Candidates must be open to assignments on either the East Bank or West Bank as staffing needs require. Ability to travel between assigned school locations if necessary. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Google Sheets. Preferred Skills Strong critical thinking and assessment abilities. Experience working with diverse student populations. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff. Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation systems. #p34
