The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women is seeking a skilled and compassionate Practical Nurse Licensed to join our dedicated healthcare team. This role offers the opportunity to provide essential medical care in a dynamic correctional environment, supporting the health, safety, and dignity of the women in our custody. As a Practical Nurse Licensed at LCIW, you will deliver direct patient care, administer medications and treatments, assist with assessments, and support the daily operations of the medical unit. You will work closely with registered nurses, physicians, mental health professionals, and security staff to ensure timely, high-quality care for individuals with diverse medical needs. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state. Administer and Manage Medication — Safely distribute prescribed medications in accordance with medical orders, facility protocols, and regulatory standards. Monitor patient responses, document administration accurately, and promptly report any concerns or adverse reactions to supervising clinical staff. Support and Assist in Specialty Clinics — Set up, prepare, and assist with a variety of on-site clinics, including general practice, gynecology, dental, dermatology, and psychiatric clinics as needed. Provide clinical support during examinations and procedures, ensuring proper equipment setup, patient comfort, and adherence to infection-control practices. Conduct Regular Patient Rounds — Make routine rounds to observe, assess, and document patients' physical conditions, behaviors, and overall well-being. Identify changes in health status, evaluate the quality of care being provided, and communicate findings to the healthcare team to ensure timely and appropriate interventions. Provide Direct Nursing Care — Perform basic nursing tasks such as wound care, vital sign monitoring, specimen collection, and assistance with daily living needs, following established nursing standards and facility guidelines. Maintain Accurate Clinical Documentation — Ensure all assessments, treatments, medication administration, and patient interactions are documented thoroughly and promptly in accordance with medical and legal requirements. Collaborate with the Healthcare and Security Teams — Work closely with registered nurses, physicians, mental health staff, and correctional officers to support coordinated, patient-centered care in a secure environment.Position-Specific Details:

JOB APPOINTMENT A
job appointment is a temporary job lasting up to four years; however, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment. This position may also be filled as a probational appointment if a non-temporary position becomes available in the recruitment process. If filled by probation, a permanent classified LA State employee, if selected, may be required to accept a probational appointment.Compensation:
This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Practical Nurse- Licensed 1 has an SER of $19.48 per hour Practical Nurse
- Licensed 2 has an SER of $20.84 per hour Practical Nurse
- Licensed 3 has an SER of $22.20 per hour 'Premium Pay' paid in addition to regular pay for qualifying conditions: Retention
