Manage care for a patient population including stroke/CVA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac-related post-procedure patients, DKA , and post-operative patients. Titrate therapies as needed, including cardiac drips and some vasopressor titration, as well as insulin drips . Support advanced interventions and monitoring, including management of central lines , venous sheaths , and feeding tubes . Provide care for patients requiring advanced respiratory support (e.g., BiPAP , tracheostomies ) and complex wound care. Participate in ongoing assessment and documentation using the facility's EMR workflow ( Meditech Expanse ). What You Need Required Active Registered Nurse (RN) license BLS and
ACLS NIHSS
Acute care experience: 1-2 years (as specified for this assignment) Ability to complete compliance requirements, including passing an EKG competency exam prior to arrival (includes Med-Surg RN) Preferred Experience with PCU-level patient acuity and/or frequent monitoring and titration Familiarity with complex lines/therapies and documentation in an inpatient setting About the Assignment This PCU role is based at a leading facility in Shreveport, LA that is a Certified Stroke Center and Chest-pain accredited , supporting a progressive care patient population with frequent monitoring and intervention. Typical staffing includes a charge nurse on the unit and in-house support resources, with the hospitalist available on call 24/7.
