POSITION:
1:1 Nurse
QUALIFICATIONS
B.S in Nursing Licensed as R.N. in Massachusetts DESE Licensure as a School Nurse preferred. Experience as a School Nurse is preferred. BLS Certification. Able to transfer, lift, and position students as needed.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Work as a school-based nurse located within a public school setting. Work independently to provide primary and emergency care as the healthcare provider for a particular student or students Participate as part of the educational team for the students. Provide nursing care in school, on field trips and transportation (during contractual work hours) for a student or students. Float to other sites as needed, particularly when the student or students for whom the nurse has primary responsibility for are absent Provide support that enables students to engage in learning activities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee will occasionally sit and walk, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift , transfer and position students. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be present during regular working hours.

EMPLOYMENT:
183 days in accordance with the contract between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association, Unit A

Director of Nursing and Building Principal
SALARY:
Per the Arlington Education Association Contract
EVALUATION
The performance of this job will be evaluated as per the Arlington Education Association Contract. Salary and Benefits are consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association. The Salary Schedule is on our website. Salary placement is based on Education and Experience. Arlington has a well-established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year. The first official work day in the 2026-2027 school year will be August 31, 2026. However, new staff are required to attend several days of orientation and training during the last two weeks of August. "School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success and life-long achievement and health of students.
