The person in this role will ensure consistent observance of approved quality standards of care and compliance with established policies and procedures in the provision of resident care. The ideal candidate should be able to: Educate employees about infection prevention; and the development of health system policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control standards (that meet AAAHC, JCAHO, OSHA, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other nationally organized agencies recommendations and requirements). Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the in-service educational programs of this facility Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities. Plan, organizes, directs and monitors the education and training programs for all staff members Plans and conducts facility-wide new employee orientations, mandatory in services, reviews of nursing skills Plan and maintains an infection control program designed to provide a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment Serve as a knowledgeable and available resource on infection control practices and policies to patients, families, staff, and health system employees Participate in continuing educational activities at the department, state, and national level to promote personal growth and maintain a current knowledge base commensurate with the latest research and scholarly knowledge

Infection Control Surveillance:

tracking post-operative complications/infection, monthly reports to governing body on a regular basis, monitoring incident/variance reporting Other duties as assigned Knowledge of Matrixcare for Medication Administration and Electronic Medical Records is a plus.
