Full Job Description Schedule:
32 hours/week M-F - no nights, weekends, or call. No set schedule due to surgery days. 4 days/week 8 hour shifts
Requirements :
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Has valid MA RN license Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification required Ability to deal compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families, physicians, and staff.
Responsibilities :
Providing direct and indirect nursing care to patients, during their surgical procedures and making every effort to remain flexible, cooperative and supportive and has charge of patient safety, provision of supplies, equipment, and maintaining asepsis. Acting as a liaison between physician and patient Assuming the role of patient advocate The care and maintenance of all medical equipment and accessories Assisting in the stocking and inventory of the clinical area Providing assistance to clerical staff Check schedule for potential changes Retrieve and assemble all equipment required for case Understands the use, placement and interpretation of all monitoring equipment Wipe down OR room per policy With OR tech, open appropriate sterile packs, instruments If familiar with the dosage route of administration, action, adverse drug reactions, and reversal medication of all commonly during procedures. Identifies an emergency situation and is able to effectively intervene Has working knowledge of all medical equipment Greets and assess each patient Individualizes care according to each patient's special needs. Follows safety and infection control procedures Identifies patient, reviews medical record for consent, H&P, PAT's and sees that all records are completed pre-procedure Accurately documents on OR record Assists anesthesia provider as needed Counts sharps and sponges with OR tech. Count instrument if appropriate Assists with orientation of new personnel Communicates relevant information to physician, and nursing and clinical staff to maintain continuity of care Implements and adheres to all policies Reviews allergies on each visit and records additions as necessary Ensures patient confidentiality by using privacy curtains and doors in appropriate areas Knows Physician preferences and implements it Restocks clinical area with drugs, supplies, equipment and accessories Properly disposes of contaminated waste following universal precautions and OSHA regulations Documents all aspects of patient care according to policies Assists OR with clean up and turnover
