Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible of providing clinical care, administrative duties, and other duties for CWI's School-based behavioral program. NP's clinical time will emphasize the practice of psychopharmacology and be performed at the both the McKinley School Site and other school-based sites. through the Department's Children's Wellness Initiative. The Director of CWI (or designee) will be responsible for setting a mutually agreeable schedule for services to be provided for adequate clinical coverage according to that schedule. The NP is required to provide services at all three McKinley sites, as well as cover another CWI school site, based on number of client hours needed.
Clinical Duties:
Attends to patients during regular appointments. Keeps and maintains (or cause to be kept and maintained) appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered by him/her. In connection with such services, prepares in a timely manner all billings, reports, claims, and correspondence in the form and manner required by Franciscan Children's as necessary or appropriate under the circumstances, all of which billings, records, reports, claims, or correspondence shall belong to Franciscan Children's. Provides eight clinical care sessions per week of direct, face-to-face patient care for 1.0 FTE, prorated for less time. A care session is defined as 4 hours of on-site availability for direct patient care. Has 2 sessions of administrative time without direct patient care scheduled; however, such administrative time may be used intermittently to provide temporary clinical coverage as well as for other functions such as meetings, mandatory trainings, etc... If the employee is working less than 1.0 FTE, this time will be pro-rated based on his/her contracted terms of employment. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Director of CWI or CWI's Psychiatrist.
General Duties:
During non-clinical time, participates in other institutional or school-based public health work after approval by the CWI Program Director. Works collaboratively and respectfully with all staff, peers, and departments at Franciscan and in the school-based program to maintain a high level of care for all patients. Maintains collaborative working relationships with all school nurses and other school personnel as related to medication issues for the patient and/or family. Actively participates in CWI's McKinley team meetings on a weekly basis. Is available during working hours to consult with CWI clinicians regarding clients who are followed for medication management. Will assist with other duties such as electronic medical record initiatives, parent education or other similar Franciscan Children's or contracted Boston Public School services for McKinley Schools Provides consultation and outreach to parent/guardians of all clients receiving medication management, included an initial on-person intake with parent/guardian.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PMHNP

CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION, OR LICENSURE REQUIRED BY THE JOB
Be a graduate of an accredited Nursing School in the United States or Canada Hold an unrestricted, active professional license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Hold an unrestricted controlled substance registration number from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong relevant practice experience and flexibility. Good communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems is required. Have knowledge of developmental issues and milestones throughout the lifespan. Expertise in assessment, planning and triage in the areas of mental health and developmental disabilities. An understanding of community resources availability and limitations, and or systemic and family interventions. Verbal and written communication skills consistent with delivery of evaluations, and presentations inside the Department and to relevant referral sources (e.g., schools, families, agencies and attorneys). Interpersonal and leadership skills consistent with effective dissemination of consultation results and integration into treatment and school plans. Interpersonal skills and style consistent with facilitation focused high quality consultations and team meetings. Is/will become a member in good standing of the Medical/Dental Staff of the Hospital. Shall comply with the bylaws, regulations, directives and policies of the Hospital, the Medical/Dental Staff and applicable departments and committees of the Hospital and the Medical/Dental Staff. Shall participate in and cooperative with any utilization review, quality assurance, risk management, peer review, and other similar program to review the professional performance of staff physicians, as may be required by the Hospital, government agencies, professional review organizations, accrediting bodies or third parties' payers.

$55.00 - $80.00 per hour
