The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to new mothers and their infants, ensuring a smooth transition during the postpartum period. This role requires a strong understanding of maternal and infant health, along with the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. Duties Assess and monitor the physical and emotional well-being of postpartum patients. Provide education and support to new mothers regarding breastfeeding, infant care, and recovery. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV infusion and medication administration. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare staff to develop and implement individualized care plans. Perform routine assessments, including vital signs, patient intake, and diagnostic evaluations. Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Assist in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care post-hospitalization. Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations. Provide support for patients with special needs, including those requiring acute pain management or dealing with developmental disabilities. Qualifications Current RN license in the state of practice. Experience in a hospital setting, particularly in postpartum or maternal health preferred. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is advantageous. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices. Skills in patient assessment, triage, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and catheter care are essential. Experience working in various settings such as acute care, long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, or pediatrics is a plus. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while providing compassionate patient-centered care.
