• Telemetry RN providing competent, patient-centered nursing care on Watkins 1.

Responsible for assessment, cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV drip titration as appropriate, development and implementation of nursing care plans, patient education, physician communication, and participation in multidisciplinary care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide patient care per standards, protocols, and policies; respect patient dignity.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient goals.
• Perform ongoing cardiac rhythm interpretation (rate, rhythm, PR/ST segments) and initiate physician-ordered interventions.
• Safely administer medications and IV therapy; titrate drips per protocol.
• Institute appropriate measures in life-threatening situations and evaluate chest pain/cardiac symptoms.
• Provide patient/family teaching and discharge planning support.
• Delegate, supervise, and prioritize nursing interventions; provide thorough documentation and timely handoffs.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and quality improvement activities.
• Recognize abnormal labs/diagnostics and notify physicians promptly.
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot patient equipment (trips, pumps, drains, traction, etc.).
• Promote learning as preceptor/instructor and identify opportunities to reduce patient safety risks.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Exerts 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Frequently reaches, handles, and feels; occasionally stoops and kneels.

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• MOAB class required within 60 days of hire.

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE

• 1 year med-surg experience preferred.
• Previous telemetry experience preferred.

MINIMUM LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

• Current MA RN license required.
• ACLS upon hire OR active BLS with

AHA ACLS

obtained within 60 days of hire.
