This facility pays extremely well and is willing to give as much OT as wanted. First, second, and third shift are all available. Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and detail-oriented Psychiatric Registered Nurse to join our dynamic mental health care team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, ensuring a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment. Your expertise will help facilitate recovery, promote well-being, and support patients through their mental health journeys. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives while working within a collaborative healthcare setting. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status exams, and physical examinations to determine individual needs and treatment plans. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including psychiatric medications, IV infusions, and other interventions such as botulinum toxin treatments when applicable. Monitor patient responses to medication and therapy, adjusting care plans accordingly to optimize outcomes. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that include behavioral health strategies, memory care techniques, and acute pain management. Provide patient education on medication administration, coping strategies, and health coaching to empower individuals in managing their mental health. Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support patients with developmental disabilities or those in specialized settings like assisted living or long-term care facilities by applying appropriate nursing practices and infection control measures. Requirements Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state certification. Proven experience in psychiatric nursing or behavioral health settings; experience in emergency room (ER), ICU, trauma centers, or hospital medicine is highly valued. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for documentation and patient record management. Knowledge of psychiatric medications including ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), medication administration protocols, and aseptic techniques. Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs. Ability to perform physical assessments, vital signs measurement, IV insertion, venipuncture, suturing, tube feeding management, and ventilator support if applicable. Strong understanding of infection control practices and HIPAA compliance standards. Critical care experience such as ICU or Level I Trauma Center is advantageous; familiarity with trauma medicine and acute care procedures is preferred. Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and case management; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
