Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Passionate nursing professionals are invited to support a student's educational journey by providing 1:1 care in a contract role designed for Registered Nurses (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN/LVN) with school experience. This rewarding position is based near New Bedford, MA and focuses on ensuring student safety and well-being during crucial transportation times. In this backfill assignment, you'll work closely with a young student who is wheelchair-bound, non-verbal, and experiences seizures. Your expertise will help provide a safe, nurturing environment during the ride to and from school on weekdays. Highlights of the role include a schedule that allows flexibility with your day—working Monday through Friday from 7am to 9am and again from 2:30pm until approximately 4:30pm.
Key qualifications and experience:
Current RN or LPN/LVN license in Massachusetts Previous school nursing, pediatric, or 1:1 care experience highly preferred Familiarity with seizure management protocols and first aid Ability to maintain a calm, reassuring presence in emergency situations Competence in documenting and communicating clearly with school staff and family Daily responsibilities: Accompany the student on the morning and afternoon bus routes, ensuring safety and health needs are met at all times Monitor for signs of seizures, administer emergency interventions, and document incidents appropriately Assist with mobility and ensure the student's comfort and dignity while riding Communicate any concerns or updates to caregivers, transportation staff, and the educational team Enjoy a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference, along with a competitive hourly rate of $50 for your valuable nursing skills and dedication.
