Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Ambulatory Colon & Rectal Surgery Nurse is responsible for collaboration between patient and Colon & Rectal Surgeon/Colon & Rectal APP in the evaluation and management of multiple Colon & Rectal Surgery conditions. He/She is responsible for coordinating patient care across multiple areas (outpatient clinic, inpatient unit and within the community) in order to provide continuity of patient care across settings. The Ambulatory Colon & Rectal Surgery Nurse works in close collaboration with the members of the Colon & rectal surgery team. The Ambulatory Colon & Rectal Nurse is an active member of the interdisciplinary team and collaborates in the development, execution and evaluation of the interdisciplinary plan of care. He/she considers factors related to ethics, safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering care.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Five years triage experience required Five years experience in a Surgical medical office required Surgical booking experience required Operating room experience preferred
Education:
Associates Degree in Nursing Bachelor's Degree preferred
Licensure & Certifications:
Currently licensed as a Professional RN in Massachusetts. Must be CPR certified
SKILLS & ABILITIES
In-depth knowledge of aseptic techniques. Ability to function independently and proficiently. Ability to act rapidly and decisively in emergencies. Must be able to move and lift and/or push patients, supplies and equipment on regular basis. Professional with good communication skills and ability to deal successfully with patients, family, physicians and multidisciplinary team members. Attendance at all mandatory education is requiredMust be able to operate Meditech system, Microsoft Word, PDF files
