Old Colony Hospice is seeking a Full Time RN to work every other weekend. The Hospice RN visits patients as scheduled and as needed. This RN is responsible for identifying patient/family needs and for providing supportive care in accordance with the attending physician's orders and plan of care and Old Colony Hospice's policies and procedures. The weekend hospice RN will work closely with the other members of the Interdisciplinary Team and the patient's primary physician in order to maximize the comfort and health of patients, families, and caregivers regardless of the care setting, to promote continuity and adherence to the hospice plan of care. The ideal candidate has hospice and/or home care experience and an abundance of compassion, emotional intelligence, and superior communication skills. This person must be flexible, a team player, and exercise excellent clinical judgment. The Hospice Nurse provides nursing care to patients in support of the RN Case Manager, the admission team, and others as needed. Proficiency with technology is required. Must document at the point of care and use technology to improve communication and patient care while protecting patient's rights to privacy and data security.
Schedule:
The weekend hospice RN will be scheduled for 36 hours per week but will be paid for 40 hours. The schedules for the available position is: Three 12 hour shifts per week, including every other weekend. The hours are from 9:00 am- 9:00 pm.
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of MA (BS Preferred)
- Ability to use good judgment and discretion and to work effectively as a member or part of an interdisciplinary team
- Must have knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, state, and local hospice, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO regulations, as well as HIPAA and other regulations protecting personal health information of patients.
- Must be able to maintain reliable attendance and be flexible.
