Monday-Friday (Flexible; approximately 20-30 hours/week) Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing services for individuals receiving treatment in the ASAM Level 2.5 Partial Hospitalization Program. The RN ensures clients receive quality medical assessments, health education, medication monitoring, and coordination of medical care while maintaining compliance with Maryland Medicaid, Carelon, CARF, COMAR, and organizational standards. The RN works closely with the Medical Director, Nurse Practitioners, therapists, case managers, and program staff to promote client safety and successful recovery. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesNursing Assessments Complete comprehensive Nursing Assessments upon admission. Perform Health History and Physical Screening. Obtain and document vital signs. Assess pain levels. Assess withdrawal symptoms using appropriate tools (CIWA, COWS when indicated). Screen for infectious diseases. Complete medication reconciliation. Review allergies. Review current medical conditions. Review past medical and psychiatric history. Review immunization history when applicable. Daily Medical Monitoring Obtain daily vital signs. Monitor blood pressure. Monitor pulse. Monitor respirations. Monitor oxygen saturation. Monitor temperature. Monitor weight as clinically indicated. Observe for signs of intoxication. Observe for withdrawal symptoms. Observe medication side effects. Assess medical stability before participation in treatment. Medication Responsibilities Review medication compliance. Educate clients regarding medications. Monitor medication effectiveness. Monitor adverse reactions. Coordinate medication refills with NP/Medical Director. Maintain medication documentation. Verify medication lists. Communicate medication concerns to prescribing provider.

Documentation Complete documentation including:
Nursing Assessments Nursing Progress Notes Health Screenings Vital Sign Logs Medication Reviews Medical Referrals Incident Reports Client Education documentation Care Coordination notes Documentation must be completed within agency timelines. Crisis Response Respond to medical emergencies. Assess unstable clients. Initiate emergency protocols. Contact EMS when necessary. Document all emergency events. Notify Medical Director. Infection Control Follow OSHA standards. Maintain infection control procedures. Ensure proper PPE use. Monitor sanitation practices. Report exposure incidents.

CARF surveys Medicaid audits Carelon audits Quality Assurance meetings Chart reviews Policy implementation Performance Improvement activities ASAM Level 2.5 Responsibilities The RN supports all medical requirements for clients participating in Partial Hospitalization, including: Admission nursing assessment Daily nursing observation Ongoing medical monitoring Medication education Coordination with Medical Director Communication with Nurse Practitioners Withdrawal monitoring Medical referrals Medical discharge planning Weekly treatment team participation Documentation supporting medical necessity QualificationsRequired Current Maryland Registered Nurse License Current CPR/BLS Certification Valid Driver's License Ability to pass background check Knowledge of substance use disorders Knowledge of co-occurring disorders Preferred Experience in Behavioral Health Experience in Addiction Medicine Experience with Medicaid documentation Experience with CARF accreditation Experience with Carelon authorization requirements Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods Ability to respond quickly during emergencies Core Competencies Professional communication Clinical assessment Medical documentation Time management Organization Crisis intervention Client-centered care Team collaboration HIPAA compliance Cultural competence Required Certifications Maryland RN License (Active) CPR/BLS Annual HIPAA Training 42 CFR Part 2 Training OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Suicide Prevention Training Crisis Intervention Training Infection Control Training Cultural Competency Training Abuse and Neglect Reporting Narcan Administration (preferred) Performance Expectations The RN is expected to: Complete all nursing assessments within 24 hours of admission . Complete daily vital signs for all clients requiring medical monitoring. Participate in weekly multidisciplinary treatment team meetings . Ensure documentation is completed within 24 hours of service. Maintain 100% compliance with Maryland Medicaid, Carelon, CARF, and BHA documentation standards. Promptly report medical concerns to the Medical Director or Nurse Practitioner. Contribute to maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment for all clients.
Pay:
$42.00 - $47.00 per hour
