Job Description

Nurse (Clinical/Emergency Department) Duties
  • Teach, onboard, and mentor professional and paraprofessional nursing staff, assisting with complex nursing and diagnostic procedures.
  • Interview and take medical histories, to acquire medically necessary information to assess physical and mental status of patient.
  • Collect current symptoms, as well as a detailed patient history, and then consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. Initiates patient education plan.
  • Conduct and participate in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of facility, departmental, or unit-based programs.
  • Provide evidence-based instructions and education to patient/significant other and/or family members/caregivers. Requirements Conditions of employment
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination tafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds) may be required.
  • You must undergo a specific initial background checks, investigation, and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.

Degree:
A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
