Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Orthopedics, where your expertise will directly impact patient recovery and mobility. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic treatments, surgeries, and rehabilitation. Your energetic approach will ensure patients receive compassionate, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment that values innovation and teamwork. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your diverse clinical skills and contribute to improved patient outcomes through expert assessment, intervention, and education. Duties Perform detailed patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine orthopedic needs. Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, pain management protocols, and botulinum toxin treatments for muscle spasticity or other conditions. Assist in surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), ensuring aseptic techniques are strictly followed and supporting surgeons during orthopedic surgeries. Manage post-operative care by monitoring recovery progress, wound care including suturing, and facilitating discharge planning. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient care accurately and efficiently while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families on orthopedic conditions, rehabilitation exercises, mobility aids, and medication regimens to promote recovery at home. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapists, radiology staff for imaging like CT scans or sonography, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans. Qualifications Valid nursing license with current registration; experience in orthopedic nursing highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-10 coding is a plus. Critical care experience including ICU or trauma center background is advantageous for managing complex orthopedic cases. Skilled in performing medical procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization, sterile dressing changes, suturing, and tube feeding. Knowledge of anatomy related to musculoskeletal systems along with diagnostic evaluation techniques like laboratory testing and medical imaging (X-ray, CT). Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or memory care needs. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions.
