PAY:
$41-45/hr depending on experience plus floater differential!

GENERAL STATEMENTS OF DUTIES
The infusion nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient's course of infusion therapy. The infusion nurse is also expected to administer research medications, as required.

TYPICAL WORKING DEMANDS
Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Involves standing and walking. Requires exposure to bodily fluids. Occasionally lifts items weighing up to 50 pounds.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposure to bio-hazardous materials. Medication preparation and administration. Fast-paced, busy medical office. Using computer-based software.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
(List may not include all of the duties assigned.) Reviews patient chart to ensure that physician's orders are up-to-date and insurance authorization has been obtained prior to patient arrival to office. Obtains brief medical history, checks vital signs, reviews labs and reviews patient's list of medications. Provides infusion therapy in a safe and competent manner. Monitors patient and promptly reports changes in the patient's condition or emergencies. Inserts peripheral intravenous catheters, access implanted ports, administers injections, and performs phlebotomy, as needed. Provides educational information to patient and patient's family regarding biologic treatments. Instructs patient about biologic medications, mechanism of action, and potential side effects. Schedules patients for infusion therapy and office visits. Communicates with providers and other staff members, as appropriate. Remains current with the policies mandated by both federal and local governments, Medicare/Medicaid programs, and other private health care programs regarding handling of laboratory work. Attends Departmental Meetings. Performs related work as required.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of indications of therapy, pharmacologic actions, interactions, side effects and monitoring of parameters. Understanding of drug calculations. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions used to establish and maintain a safe work environment. Knowledge of Infusion Nursing Standards of Practice developed by Infusion Nurses Society (INS) and adheres to the Standards of Practice. Skilled in IV catheter insertion and implanted port care. Skilled in obtaining vital signs. Skilled in maintaining clear and concise notes in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR). Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Ability to examine documents for accuracy and thoroughness. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, other staff members, and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to adapt to changes in the department. Ability to think critically in the clinical setting. Participate in the development and general adherence of policies and procedures related to infusion therapy and nursing care within the department. Work independently with off-site supervision. Floating to other sites, as appropriate, for staffing needs in the department. Maintains current licensure and certifications necessary to perform duties and legally practice in the state(s) licensed. Adheres to all ARA and ARISE Policies and Procedures. Other Duties as

Identifies, reports and/or prevents any fraudulent or unethical behavior. Notifies management if inappropriate behavior is observed within the organization. HIPAA-Minimum Necessary Access to PHI We are committed to enforcing minimum necessary access to our patient's PHI by limiting the uses and disclosures of this information within our practice. The employee needs access to the aforementioned computer "role" in order to carry out his/her job in a manner that best serves our patients. Role descriptions are explicitly defined in our HIPAA manual. Access to computer information is password protected. Upon termination of an employee, his/her password will be deleted in the system.
EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program.
CERTIFICATE / LICENSE
BLS Certification ACLS Certification, preferred Current RN license in
DC, VA, MD
(depending on location of hire)
EXPERIENCE
Minimum:
1 year of direct patient care in an inpatient setting, preferably critical care. IV catheter insertion competency and infusion therapy experience preferred.
