Job Description

RN, Full Time, Frederick, MD Do you enjoy working one on one with your patients? Are you looking to build meaningful and lasting relationships with your patients? Do you excel when working autonomously? Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA) is a growing nonprofit organization that promotes independence of people who are deaf or hard of hearing through communication, connection and community supports. Our agency has expanded to Frederick, Maryland plus covers the Eastern Shore, Central, Southern and Western areas of Maryland.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees case management and delegating nursing tasks, including medication administration. Assures HIPAA compliance regarding protected health information of clients served by DILA. Logically prioritize the nursing needs of clients and create a plan of care by the appropriate selection of the Nurse Practice Standards. Perform ongoing assessment and revise the plan of care based on new information and the individual's condition. Complete 45 day monitoring of each client, including, but not limited to: o Reviewing Medication Administration Records (MAR) and checking prescriptions to ensure all information is accurate and transcribed correctly. Signing of MARs. o Completes nursing assessments in a timely manner. o Assure compliance with medication administration and treatment, as ordered by the physician. o Coordinate the reporting of medication errors/omissions o Advise staff regarding medication side effects and signs to observe in clients receiving the medication. o Observe staff administering and charting medications. o Maintain files on each person for medication reviews and assures compliance. o Assures the timely completion of all medical paperwork. o Completes written report on each site surveyed that identifies problems, concerns, and solutions for deficiencies. o Monitors MARs monthly for the Agency's Quality Enhancement efforts. Prepares necessary protocols and provides training to clients and staff on how to use them (e.g. glucose monitoring, CPAP, nebulizer, etc.). Counsels clients regarding health issues (e.g. medical procedures, birth control, STD's, medications, etc.). Serves as a liaison, working with community facilities and medical providers to coordinate client care and establish working relationships. Conduct in-service training to all staff. Serve at the forefront of any individual or public health crisis that may impact clients.
Qualifications:
Current ed Nurse License within the State of Maryland or an accepted multi-state license to practice. Must have current CPR. Prefer at least two years of nursing experience, preference to having experience in the field of developmental disabilities, however new graduates will be considered. Must have no weight lifting restrictions, is an be able to travel and be willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL).
