  • 4PM The physicians and staff at the C.P. Choudari Surgical Center provide quality, expert outpatient surgical care. The Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Pre-Procedure Evaluation is responsible for assessing patients prior to scheduled surgical or procedural interventions in the ambulatory surgery center setting.
This role ensures patients are clinically optimized, properly educated, and prepared for safe and efficient procedures while maintaining compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive pre-procedure assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, allergies, and prior anesthesia history Review laboratory results, diagnostics, and pre-operative testing for completeness and clinical appropriateness Identify and escalate potential risks or contraindications to anesthesia or surgery Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff regarding patient readiness Provide patient education regarding pre-procedure instructions, medications, fasting requirements, and post-procedure expectations Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record Verify consent forms, advance directives, and required clearances Maintain compliance with infection control, patient safety, and regulatory guidelines Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives as needed Conduct comprehensive pre-procedure assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, allergies, and prior anesthesia history Review laboratory results, diagnostics, and pre-operative testing for completeness and clinical appropriateness Identify and escalate potential risks or contraindications to anesthesia or surgery Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff regarding patient readiness Provide patient education regarding pre-procedure instructions, medications, fasting requirements, and post-procedure expectations Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record Verify consent forms, advance directives, and required clearances Maintain compliance with infection control, patient safety, and regulatory guidelines Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives as needed Requirements Education
  • Graduated from accredited school of nursing. Experience
  • A minimum of one year experience in an acute care setting required. Relevant experience in field preferred Licensure/Certification
  • Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland & Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy.
