Details
  • Emergency Department (ED) setting within a hospital that includes an inpatient psychiatric unit
  • Patient population spans pediatric to geriatric
  • Common diagnoses include respiratory conditions, chest pain, MI, STEMI, non-STEMI, stroke, and TPA administration, with some trauma cases such as MVAs and fractures
  • Psychiatric patients may be seen in the ED, occasionally comprising a significant portion of the census
  • 40-bed unit with an average daily census of 30
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • 10-week contract Requirements
  • Active RN license for the state of Maryland (MD state license or Compact RN license) required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience required Additional Information
  • The facility is not a primary trauma center; the nearest trauma center is approximately 10 minutes away
  • Psychiatric patients are seen in the ED; the hospital's own staff are required to hold CPI certification — travelers should be aware of this environment
