Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
Valid and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine. Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Excellent ability to communicate with consumers, families, other providers, co-workers, and program management.
Essential Functions:
Become familiar with all residents to be able to provide medical support as needed. Act as a role model and professional. Able to teach the CRMA curriculum. Provide support and oversight of CRMAs. Monitor Medication Administration Records (MMR) prior to home administration. Monthly program audit of electronic health records and program visits: obtain and monitor status of doctors' order including over the counter medications; check expiration dates of medication; keep first aid boxes stocked; review all incident reports; obtain and monitor Licensing and Agency policies regarding medication administration. Develop and provide monthly staff training related to health and safety including: legally required (BBP, Fatal Five, MSDS, etc.); related to specific consumer needs/diagnoses (ex: diabetes, bronchial dilators, seizure disorders, g-tube). Act as agency designated Infection Control Officer; oversee Infection Control Plan. Consult in the admission process to ensure that Dirigo Support Professionals can appropriately serve a potential resident with complex medical needs. Participate in individual served meetings as needed when there are significant medical issues. Serve as a liaison between the program and resident health care providers/families/other caregivers to address consumer health needs. Travel between sixteen locations in the Lewiston-Auburn area is required.
