Job Description
Level 12 Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Healthcare Pavilion. CICU nurses care for patients who have critical needs related to cardiac conditions. Typically this would encompass patients in cardiogenic shock, CHF patients needing Swan Ganz diuresing, unstable cardiomyopathy, and pulmonary hypertension. Often these patients require CRRT, IABP and ventilator support. The CICU also may receive overflow from other ICUs. Current RN licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan. Two (2) years of ICU or moderate care experience.

All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census. The D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is a 12-story hospital that will house 264 private rooms capable of converting to intensive care; a state-of-the-art neurosciences center. High-level, specialty care services for cardiovascular and thoracic patients will also be housed, along with advanced imaging. The 690,000 square foot hospital which also features twenty surgical and three interventional radiology suites is being constructed adjacent to the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, with plans for bridge and tunnel connections to existing inpatient care facilities. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment. Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
