In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), ensuring their safety, comfort, and recovery through advanced clinical skills and attentive patient assessment. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators and IV infusions. Perform detailed patient assessments, interpret diagnostic evaluations, and develop individualized care plans aligned with best practices and hospital protocols. Operate advanced medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, ventilators, and laboratory analyzers while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers—to coordinate complex treatments like trauma medicine, infectious disease care, and acute pain management. Document all patient interactions accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Respond swiftly to emergencies by executing airway management, basic life support (BLS), and trauma procedures within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment. Assist in discharge planning and family education for patients requiring long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, or specialized services like ostomy or dialysis care. Requirements Valid nursing license with current registration; experience working in an ICU setting is essential. Demonstrated critical care experience including ICU or emergency room experience at a Level I or Level II trauma center. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding is preferred. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Ability to perform complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including cardiac catheterization), phlebotomy, tube feeding management, and specimen collection/processing. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs. Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and other relevant specialties are required; additional training in neurocritical care or trauma medicine is a plus.
