Director, Emergency Job Summary:
Provides health care services to the organization employees and client patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Essential Functions:

Provides treatment for job related injuries and illnesses. Ensures compliance with applicable workplace safety laws and regulations. May also conduct safety training programs, as needed. Provides employee counseling and referrals for occupational injuries and illnesses as well as other health related matters. Adheres to requirements stipulated by overseeing physician and consistent with nursing scope of practice. Implements and executions of medical policies, protocols and directives. Provides training as needed for employees and medical personnel. Compiles and completes Plant and Corporate medical reports. Manages responsibilities in accordance with Ford Global Safety Operating System Standards. Provisions of medical care, emergencies, and non-emergency. Medical referrals: appointments, notification, follow-up. Contacts External Care providers. Records and process short term medical absences. Medical leaves
  • Process medical leaves if required by BOBM protocols.
Performs medical examinations: surveillance, pre-placement, fitness for duty, return to work. Operates medical equipment-calibration/maintenance and oversight of use of equipment Performs surveillance exams, including audios, PFT, vision testing, respiratory fit testing. OSHA recordkeeping: create clinical records, maintain in compliance with OSHA regulations. Oversees accuracy of OSHA recordkeeping and remediate individuals with recordkeeping errors. Performs points of collection substance abuse testing and process presumptive positive specimens for confirmatory testing at an outside laboratory. Participation with multidisciplinary teams: ergonomics, safety, behavioral emergency. Serves as case management lead. Oversees Department Scheduling. Represents Medical in management forums.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a program in nursing. Current licensure in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
BSN, preferred. experience in Emergency care, outpatient acute/urgent care, and/or Occupational Health, preferred. Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN), preferred Experience using EHR preferred. Clear oral expression; oral comprehension includes listening to and understanding others; deductive and inductive reasoning skills; ability to write clearly; use of technology such as EMR; selective attention
  • able to concentrate for protracted periods; time sharing
  • able to shift back and forth successfully between two or more activities; manual dexterity
  • to manage syringes, and other equipment; information ordering skills
  • patterns of numbers, pictures, words and mathematical operations including medication calculation.
Ability to work with diverse patient and staff populations with sensitivity to cultural and spiritual influences impacting patient care. Efficiently manage time with minimal supervision. Ability to operate computer equipment and electronic health records in an efficient manner. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of records, documents or discussions related to work related functions. Good attendance is an essential element of this position. Willing to participate in CME programs periodically to enhance job performance, skills, and knowledge.
Working Conditions:
Work in an unpredictable environment encountering stressful situations and exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases. May experience traumatic situations.
