Role Summary Under general supervision and in alignment with organizational policies, unit standards, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the Registered Nurse provides and coordinates high-quality care throughout the patient's stay. This includes using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care; collaborating with interdisciplinary team members; delegating tasks appropriately; and documenting patient responses and needs. As outlined in the job description, RNs "manage the care delivery for patients… to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge," and must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. What You'll Do Complete comprehensive assessments and identify patient needs. Develop and implement individualized plans of care, incorporating patient and family input. Administer medications and treatments according to approved nursing practices. Provide patient education and ensure comfort and safety throughout care delivery. Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff. Delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff competencies. Evaluate patient responses and adjust care plans as needed. Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately. Professional Expectations Participate in quality improvement activities and apply findings to practice. Maintain required competencies and engage in ongoing education. Contribute to a supportive, collaborative, and professional work environment. Uphold ethical standards, patient rights, and culturally sensitive care. Serve as a patient advocate and maintain compassionate relationships with patients and colleagues. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred; must obtain within 8 years of hire. Current RN license in good standing in the State of Michigan. BLS required by completion of core orientation. Additional certifications may be required depending on unit needs (e.g., ACLS, PALS). Ability to read and interpret clinical data and operate computer systems. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with patient handling. Work Environment Acute care/med-surg setting requiring sustained alertness and strong clinical judgment. Regular standing, walking, and patient interaction. Exposure to infectious diseases and high-stress clinical situations. Work may involve sustained mental and visual concentration.
