Operating Room Circulating Nurse Pioneer Medical Associates PC Sterling Heights, MI Job Details Part-time | PRN From $38 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications RN License BLS Certification OR experience Patient safety measures implementation ACLS Certification Healthcare infection prevention and control expertise Orthopedic surgery Attention to detail Perioperative care Orthopedics Safety standard operating procedures Surgical nursing expertise Full Job Description Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator PRN / Part-Time | Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center team on a PRN or Part-Time basis . The RN Circulator will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic surgical procedures while ensuring a safe, efficient, and positive surgical experience. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff. Essential ResponsibilitiesPreoperative Responsibilities Review patient charts, physician orders, and surgical consents for completeness and accuracy. Verify patient identity, procedure, operative site, and required documentation. Participate in preoperative assessments and preparation. Ensure availability and readiness of orthopedic implants, instruments, and equipment. Intraoperative Responsibilities Serve as the primary patient advocate throughout the surgical procedure. Coordinate and direct activities within the operating room to promote patient safety and surgical efficiency. Maintain sterile technique and monitor compliance with infection prevention standards. Perform surgical counts in collaboration with the surgical technologist. Document intraoperative care accurately and thoroughly. Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs during orthopedic cases. Assist with positioning patients safely and appropriately for orthopedic procedures. Collaborate with anesthesia personnel and surgical team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Manage specimens according to established policies and procedures. Postoperative Responsibilities Facilitate safe patient transfer to the PACU. Provide complete handoff communication to recovery staff. Document patient status and operative events accurately. Additional Duties Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Assist with maintaining OR supplies, equipment, and implant inventory. Ensure compliance with ASC policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. Support a collaborative and team-oriented work environment. When not in surgery, other tasks such as Pre-admission phone calls, Post-Discharge follow-ups QualificationsRequired Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current BLS certification. ACLS certification or ability to obtain within designated timeframe. Minimum of two years of Operating Room circulating experience. Experience circulating orthopedic surgical procedures. Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, patient safety protocols, and perioperative standards. Preferred Ambulatory Surgery Center experience Experience with total joints, sports medicine, and arthroscopic procedures. Electronic medical record (EMR) experience.
