As an ER RN, you will be at the forefront of emergency medicine, utilizing advanced medical knowledge and a proactive approach to stabilize and treat diverse patient populations. Your role is crucial in ensuring high-quality, timely interventions that make a real difference in patients' lives every day. Duties Assess patient conditions swiftly through comprehensive physical examinations and vital sign monitoring to determine urgency and prioritize care. Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols. Manage airway emergencies using advanced airway management techniques and ventilator support when necessary. Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpreting results using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic or Cerner. Provide acute pain management, wound suturing, and trauma care including trauma medicine and Level I or II trauma center procedures. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, discharge planning, and long-term care arrangements including hospice & palliative medicine or memory care services. Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance and adhering to NCQA standards. Qualifications Valid RN license with current state registration; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required. Proven experience in emergency room settings, including emergency medicine or Level I/II trauma centers. Critical care experience with familiarity in ICU procedures, cardiac catheterization, infectious disease care, and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with
ICD-9/10
coding, CPT coding, and laboratory documentation is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to acute care interventions, airway management, and infection control practices. Ability to perform complex medical procedures including venipuncture, phlebotomy, tube feeding management, ostomy care, and use of medical imaging tools like sonography or mammography equipment when applicable. Excellent communication skills for patient assessment, health coaching, teaching hospital experience preferred; capable of working efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or hospital emergency departments.
