RN Job Description North Star Family Medicine is a family medicine clinic in the Brainerd Lakes Area whose focus is to establish the physician-patient relationship by creating a welcoming, relaxed fun culture where patients feel they can speak openly to their physician regarding their healthcare issues to develop a plan which meets their individual goals and needs. The Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) assists the provider to help manage patient care by triaging symptoms, performing physical exams, reviewing lab results, educating patients, assisting with performing small procedures, administering medications, performing blood draws, providing IV hydration and completing accurate documentation in patients EHR.
Skills:
Proficient in starting IV/administering IV medications and fluids Proficient in administering IM injections Read and interpret lab results with patients Assist provider with small procedures, including suturing, cyst removals, etc. Ability to complete blood draw and process sample accordingly Ability to read provider orders/administer medications properly Ability to complete hearing and vision screenings Ability to run point of care tests including, strep, influenza, RSV, covid, etc. Ability to complete EKGs, apply holter monitor, training will be provided Ability to obtain vital signs Ability to room patients effectively and obtain their reason for visit Ability to interact appropriately with patients and staff/treating everyone with kindness Effective listening and communication skills towards patient and coworkers Communicate with RNs/staff of facilities that we service in the area Ability to maintain accurate patient health records Ability to maintain patient confidentiality/understands HIPAA Ability to prioritize clinic needs and have effective time management Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to provide efficient patient care Willingness to learn and support clinic staff
Duties:
Start IV to administer fluids and monitor patient during procedure Communicating with patients to ensure they are knowledgeable about provider orders Provide patient focused rooming Complete exams that are necessary for rooming based on reason for visit, (example: well child, vision and hearing exam) Set up room for visit based on reason for visit, (example: female annual, set up for PAP) Complete providers orders including, collecting labs, EKG, etc Collect samples/result tests needed to complete provider orders, including, urine, swab, etc. Prioritizing tasks to be completed in clinic to ensure clinic continues to run smoothly Assist coworkers/providers to ensure the day-to-day activities of the clinic are completed timely and efficiently Communicate results and respond to patient questions via phone or email Monitor the inbox and complete cases if able Follow up on referrals and request notes/results once completed Notify office manager when medical supplies are running low/needing to be ordered Assist provider with procedures Dressing wounds/apply dressing using aseptic technique following procedure Document in patient chart results/medication that was administered Maintain cleanliness of rooms, lab, and office space Disinfecting rooms and labs between every patient Clinic Hours Monday
