Job Description:
Provides a focused cephalocaudal assessment , health status and pre-treatment lab review prior to patients receiving chemotherapy/immunotherapy & supportive treatments, central line care, therapeutic phlebotomies, and bladder instillations; confirming patient consent prior to treatment; educating patient on the possible side effects during and after treatment; administering treatments as ordered while assessing for and responding to adverse reactions from these treatments. The goal of infusion nurses is to provide safe care during the administration of high-risk hazardous drugs while utilizing acute assessment and critical thinking skills to prevent severe hypersensitivity or infusion related reactions to avoid hospitalizations or emergency department visits.

Current license with the appropriate State Board of Nursing Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 3 months from date of hire Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy provider card to be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained thereafter.
