Job Description

The Team Maryville × St. Luke's Healthcare Immersion Program is a 16-week‑ paid experience designed to bring Maryville students into a real-world healthcare environment. Through thoughtfully structured PRN roles, students gain exposure to clinical, administrative, and technical areas, stepping into the hospital setting to learn, serve, and grow . Rooted in Team Maryville's mission of purposeful employment, competitive recruitment, and intentional training, this partnership allows students to explore multiple career pathways, including: Clinical areas: pulmonary medicine, cardiac progressive care, emergency services, and nursing practice Administrative roles: human resources, finance/accounting, and operations Technical roles: information technology, security, systems operations, and help desk support Guided by Maryville's vision of student employment as a launchpad for lifelong success, and inspired by Disney's commitment to exceptional experiences, the program emphasizes the Five Keys of Safety, Courtesy, Show, Efficiency, and Inclusion . Students gain hands-on skills, confidence, and professional insight while working alongside healthcare teams who model excellence, mentorship, and compassionate care. At the conclusion of the 16-week program, students complete a guided reflection aligned with Team Maryville's focus on growth and intentional development. They evaluate how their work strengthened skills, shaped career interests, and supported long-term goals. They reflect on competencies developed, identify departments or roles of interest, seek feedback from mentors, and explore additional education or certifications. This structured reflection ensures students complete the program with clarity, confidence, and direction—key outcomes of a Team Maryville journey designed to help students thrive beyond graduation. The Student Nurse Intern works under RN supervision to provide patient care, participate in care planning, assist with clinical tasks, and support the healthcare team. This role gives students hands-on experience in delivering safe, compassionate, and professional care while contributing to the hospital's mission and values. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with care team members, students, and support staff Act as a patient liaison and advocate Document assessments, care plans, and treatment goals Participate in discharge planning and patient education Conduct patient assessments and coordinate care activities Assist with clinical tasks such as NG tube insertion, IV placement, phlebotomy, staple/drain removal, and Code Blue/RRT participation Engage in continuing education and professional development Knowledge, Skills & Abilities High school diploma required. Basic computer skills required. Good verbal and documentation skills required. Ability to work within hospital policies and nursing standards. Age-specific patient care across neonates to geriatric adults. Teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy. Manual dexterity and ability to lift or move patients/equipment. Employee is required to sit and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load frequently, a medium (21-50 lbs.) and/or heavy (50 lbs. +) load occasionally. Emploee will have exposure to bloodborne pathogens, electrical hazards, and CRT terminal work. Shift flexible due to 24/7 hospital operation. The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties. Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program junior year and completed first clinical rotation. High school diploma required.
