ER Nurses face urgent, life-or-death situations almost daily. Being able to function in the heat of emergency will be necessary.
Communication Skills:
Nurses communicate directly with patients who are scared, in pain or in shock. Families will have questions and want answers. Good nurses need to be patient listeners and good communicators to help keep everyone calm and help them understand the situation. Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time and withstand mentally and physically stressful situations on a consistent basis.
Skills Abilities:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels. Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid. Ability to perform simple mathematical equations. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Effective oral and written communication skills.
Working Conditions:
Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions. Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors.
Physical Demands:
Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associates in Nursing, or has graduated from an accredited and approved nursing program. High school graduate or equivalent. Current certification/license in the State of Missouri. Class B Basic Life Support (CPR) within 90 days of employment and renewed biannually.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of general, or Skilled Nursing preferred. NRMC is adhering to the CMS Omnibus
