The Clinic Clerk will be employed to provide basic health care to district students during the school day, thereby minimizing student absence due to illness. The Clinic Clerk will assist with record keeping and creating a climate of health and well-being in the district schools.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The Clinic Clerk shall have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent and shall have a high level of competence in clerical skills. The Clinic Clerk must have or obtain certification in a first aid class, such as the Red Cross First Aid Course and CPR. These certificates must be kept current.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Carry out the daily routine established by the school nurse in cooperation with the principal, keeping the nurse informed of all matters appropriate to the health and well-being of students. Maintain the confidential nature of all student-related matters. Assist in maintaining the clinic environment, including: Keeping supplies, first aid materials, equipment, and necessary resource materials stocked Assisting with yearly inventory Maintaining the rest area in a neat and sanitary fashion Provide direct student care, including: Performing special care procedures (i.e., bathroom needs, including diapering) Providing first aid to ill and injured students according to established procedures Administering and recording medications under the direction of the school nurse Carrying out established procedures for transferring care of ill or injured children to parents/guardians Maintain comprehensive health records, including: Initiating digital health records for new students Updating state immunization status Coordinating and completing accident reports and other documentation Performing data entry in school information systems (S.I.S.) Preparing various reports (immunization, health conditions, etc.) Typing, duplicating, scanning, and uploading/filing records as needed Assisting in developing checklists and maintaining information for statistics and reports Participate in required Health Services meetings and professional development.ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Assist with the supervision of students as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by the school nurse, building principal, and/or Coordinator of Nursing and Wellness. Effectively communicate, verbally and in written form, with students, administrators, staff, and the community as needed. Operate office machinery.MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain confidential information; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions. Solve a variety of problems in many different situations and perform in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee will often lift, carry, move, push, or pull up to 20 pounds. Employment will be on an at-will basis for 9 months, beginning with the first day of the work calendar or at the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated personal leave. Each clinic clerk will be provided a work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employee. The work calendar may be modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate. Seven hours (including a 30-minute non-paid lunch period) will constitute a workday for the clinic clerk. A definite daily schedule will be established by the building principal and approved by the Chief Human Resources Officer.. The yearly salary will be disbursed in nineteen (19) equal payments or twenty-four (24) equal payments per employee's choice.EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.Approved:
