Job Description

Assumes the responsibility for providing professional care to a designated patient population. Accountable for supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse and non-professional staff assigned to the unit. Directs patient-care according to medical center policies, procedures and accepted standards of practice and care. Conducts patient assessments, including history and physical. Develops a plan of care for each patient using nursing process. Administers and records prescribed medications, treatments, and procedures. Leads the team in planning, implementation, evaluation of patient care. Assists the medical staff with examinations, treatments, special tests, and procedures. Participates in unit activities such as answering phones, call lights, distributing meals, environmental tasks, or other assigned duties. Directs team conferences, shift reports and care planning.
EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
REQUIREMENT
At least 18 years old. Able to read and write the English language. Demonstrate proficiency of skills per checklist. Able to pass a written pharmacology exam. Able to perform considerable standing, walking and lifting.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Current MS RN license. Current CPR certification.
ACLS & PALS
certifications within the first year of employment.

Maintains good physical and emotional health. Gives evidence of knowledge and ability to use proper channels of communication. Is able to remain calm and function under stress. Demonstrates ability and cooperation in rotation of shift and/or duty areas. Promotes harmonious inter- and intra-departmental relationships.
