Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Pre-Operative Responsibilities Perform patient admission and identification verification. Review medical history, medications, allergies, and surgical consent forms. Complete pre-operative nursing assessments. Verify completion of required diagnostic testing and physician orders. Ensure compliance with NPO status and pre-procedure instructions. Initiate and maintain IV access as ordered. Administer medications within scope of practice and physician orders. Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery or procedures. Communicate pertinent patient information to anesthesia providers and physicians. Post-Operative Responsibilities Monitor patients during the recovery phase following anesthesia or sedation. Assess and document vital signs, pain levels, neurological status, and overall patient condition. Administer medications as ordered. Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition. Provide patient and family education regarding post-operative care, medications, restrictions, and follow-up appointments. Ensure discharge criteria are met prior to patient discharge. Complete accurate and timely documentation in the medical record
