Job Description

Job Summary:
The Professional Plus Float Pool nurse must float to various units to meet staffing needs. The RN performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator and is delegated an assignment by the Patient Care Coordinator/, Unit Director, or House Supervisor to achieve quality patient care. The RN shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator, as evidenced by documentation in the Patient Care Record, direct observation by the Unit Director, and patient evaluations of care. The RN is ultimately accountable to the Director of Nursing.

Embraces and practices the We C.A.R.E. philosophy in all aspects of patient, visitor, coworker and staff care Incorporates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates understanding of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the required care. Shows thorough, concise, and timely documentation, shift reports, and communicates pertinent patient information to all health care team members. Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, ongoing competencies, equipment and certifications required in specific nursing area, including EKG rhythm identification, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), TNCC if working in the Emergency Department, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) if working the Maternal Child Unit. Show ability to perform all technical skills required for each unit's population by rendering professional nursing care, including administering medications, starting IVs, maintenance of Intravenous lines and foley catheters, venipuncture, administration of blood products, restraint application and monitoring, sterile dressing, vents, ICPs , trachs, and performing both complex and routine treatments as ordered by the physician. Incorporates the technical aptitude for working and troubleshooting equipment used, including but not limited to traction, wound vacuum systems, continuous passive motion machines, telemetry monitoring devices, and specialty beds. Demonstrates the aptitude for safely positioning and assisting patients using a variety of devices such as but not limited to abduction pillows, splints, slings, braces, neck collars, walkers, crutches and immobilizers Executes critical thinking skills and uses professional judgement to respond promptly with intervention when clinical changes occur, and prevent complications in patients needing cardiac monitoring, stroke care, and medical-surgical care. Show self-motivation and able to make decisions independently and keeping PCM informed and supporting the hospital's mission and vision Demonstrates the ability to promote a culture of caring through compassionate care, teamwork, and courtesy in all interactions with customers both internal and external Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner (friendly, courteous and compassionate manner in all interactions). Demonstrates the ability to assist in coordinating services with the medical staff, nursing staff and other departments as well as providers. Responds rapidly and effectively during emergencies. Shall attend required number of unit specific staff meetings annually as assigned by the DON. Implements a systematic and comprehensive plan of care to provide individualized care. Educates patients and their families about diagnoses, treatments, or prescribed medical regimens and medications in accordance with patient and family readiness and ability to learn. Incorporates the ability to promote a culture of caring through compassionate care, teamwork, and courtesy in all interactions with customers, both internal and external. Demonstrates financial responsibility by using supplies in a cost-efficient manner, ensuring that patients are discharged promptly, and keeping incremental overtime to a minimum. policy, procedure, and standards of care in performing nursing duties and adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e., customer service, safety, infection control, and compliance standards. Behaviors and interactions demonstrate a positive attitude, personal initiative, and motivation to achieve the department's goals. Champions the development and growth of safety culture. Participates in all competencies planned for the job role before deadlines. Complies with the departmental and facility policy. Follows the policies in the Employee Handbook. Work Experience:
Two years of clinical hospital nursing work experience required within the past year. Certification/Licensure-DUE

Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on the required timeframe below Basic Life Support Within 30 Days of Employment Required Advanced Cardiac Life Support Within 90 Days of Employment Required Pediatric Advance Life Support Within 90 Days of Employment Required NIH Stroke Scale Within 90 Days of Employment Required Moderate Sedation Within 90 Days of Employment Preferred Trauma Nursing Core Course Within 180 Days of Employment Required Rhythm Strip Interpretation for Techs Within 90 Days of Employment Preferred •The below are required if working Premium Pool for OB/OR Units- If working in OB/OR only premium pool, the employee must have BLS, ACLS, and PALS in addition to the below. Traditional Premium Pool working the ED, MS, and ICU are not required to have the below. Year of Employment Required Mental Demands:
