Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Preoperative/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team at our facility in Southaven, MS. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in acute care settings, including ICU, emergency medicine, or surgical units, and possess a strong background in patient assessment, airway management, and post-operative recovery. This role involves providing exceptional patient care during the critical transition from surgery to recovery, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. The PACU RN will collaborate closely with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive perioperative care. Experience with EMR/EHR systems is preferred. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments upon arrival in the PACU, including vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness. Monitor patients continuously during recovery from anesthesia or sedation, recognizing signs of distress or complications such as acute pain or airway compromise. Administer medications safely following HIPAA guidelines and medical documentation standards; experience with medication administration protocols including injections and IV infusions is required. Document all patient care activities accurately using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; ensure compliance with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, post-acute care coordination, and patient education on medication management and recovery protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection control, pain management, and patient safety standards. Qualifications Valid RN license with current state licensure in Mississippi OR compact licensure. Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience in ICU, emergency room, hospital medicine, or post-surgical units. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems. Knowledge of advanced physiology concepts including airway management, pharmacology related to anesthesia recovery, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments. Excellent communication skills for working with diverse patient populations. Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or equivalent are mandatory.

$28.00 - $38.00 per hour
