1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Telemetry position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and the ability to float across a regional health system on night shift. Details Medical Telemetry unit within a 109-bed, non-teaching community hospital designated as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center 27-bed unit with an average census of 20 patients Common diagnoses include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 (acuity dependent); ratios may increase to 1:7-8 during surge staffing 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week Every other weekend rotation required Floating required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — pediatrics only); candidates unwilling to float to all facilities within the region should not apply
EMR:
Epic (experience preferred) IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips No on-call or call-back requirements Requirements Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Proficiency in general Med/Tele skills including stroke care and NIH assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.) Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Unit is supported by CNAs, a charge nurse (who may or may not carry a patient assignment), 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring technicians; HUC/receptionist available on day shift only No dedicated IV/VAT team on unit Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation Travel time between facilities is compensated when floating mid-shift 75% holiday coverage required Required scrub color: Navy blue Free parking available on site Unit culture described as positive and team-driven First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
