Job Description

Job/Position Overview Manages and directs all issues related to the physical health and medical needs of students. Responsibilities include infection control, oversight of health-related concerns, coordination of outside medical and dental appointments, medication administration, and conducting staff trainings on medical and safety-related topics. Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Participation in an on-call rotation approximately once every 4-6 weeks Benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) Medical, dental, and vision insurance Qualifications Experience and Education Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina (or ability to obtain NC licensure within 90 days of hire) Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth At least 25 years of age CPR and First Aid certification CPR and First Aid instructor certification (preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer service orientation Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Demonstrated leadership and oversight abilities Self-starter with a strong work ethic Ability to maintain healthy professional boundaries Willingness to learn and apply new skills Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate company vehicles preferred Emotional maturity and ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations Ability to supervise and train staff Job Duties and Responsibilities Risk Management Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of medication planning, organization, and administration for students, including prescribed and over-the-counter medications Train staff on medication administration policies and ensure compliance Ensure medications are securely stored, properly administered, and disposed of according to policy Oversee infection control procedures and provide staff training on implementation Monitor and manage students' physical health needs and coordinate outside medical appointments Maintain up-to-date immunization and medical records Obtain prescription medications as needed from pharmacies Complete nursing assessments upon admission and ongoing monthly health assessments Monitor and address illness or medical concerns, determining appropriate care or external treatment Coordinate care with physicians and outside medical providers to ensure continuity and accuracy of treatment Communicate medical updates, recommendations, and treatment plans with parents/guardians in a timely manner Ensure proper management of chronic or specialized medical conditions Maintain confidentiality of all client, employee, and organizational information Enforce all organizational policies and procedures, including incident reporting, infection control, medication administration, transportation, and safety protocols Identify potential hazards and communicate risks to leadership for timely resolution Additional Responsibilities Coordinate transportation for medical appointments and transport students when necessary Collaborate with program leadership and dietary staff to support healthy, balanced nutrition plans Participate in treatment team meetings to communicate medical updates and needs Provide health education programming, including topics related to wellness and development Attend leadership and staff meetings as required Working Conditions and Physical Demands This position requires active movement within the facility and during off-campus activities.
Staff must be able to:
Lift at least 50 pounds and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling Remain active for up to 95% of the shift Run 400 meters in 2.5 minutes or less Communicate clearly and effectively in dynamic environments Maintain sufficient hearing and visual acuity to ensure safety and supervision Position Relationships Supervised by:
