Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator for our surgical team on a part-time basis, working days and weekends in Hendersonville. The RN Circulator will play a vital role in supporting surgical procedures by ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile technique, and coordinating perioperative care. This position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses to contribute to high-quality surgical outcomes within a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures while ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Assist surgeons and surgical team members by preparing operating rooms, managing equipment, and ensuring all supplies are sterile and ready for use. Monitor patient vital signs, assess patient status continuously, and respond promptly to any intraoperative changes or emergencies. Document all aspects of patient care accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate effectively with anesthesia providers, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth operative workflows. Educate patients about perioperative procedures and post-operative care instructions to promote recovery and safety. Maintain operating room sterility standards, manage specimen collection/processing, and support infection control practices throughout procedures. Experience Valid RN license with current state licensure required; previous OR or circulator experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in aseptic technique, sterile processing, and surgical instrumentation management. Experience working in diverse clinical settings such as hospital surgery departments, outpatient surgery centers, or specialty clinics including ophthalmology or cardiology is advantageous. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities. Knowledge of medical terminology related to surgery, anesthesia, and perioperative procedures is essential. Prior exposure to complex surgical environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals is beneficial. Ability to work effectively in fast-paced settings with critical care components including acute pain management and emergency response protocols.
