Job Description

The Orange County Health Department has an opening for an Advanced Practice Provider II. An employee of this class is primarily responsible for managing the Advanced Practice Providers and Licensed Clinical Social Workers in the medical clinic, as well as providing medical diagnoses and treatment plans according to a collaborative practice plan with the Medical Director and consultation as needed. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Public Health Nursing Director with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions regarding client/family needs and requests. Supervision is a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required. Our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative, at all job levels, of the residents we serve. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners' approved Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner Program AND three (3) years of work experience as an Advanced Practice Provider; AND One (1) year supervisory experience in public health; AND Eligible for approval to practice medical acts issued by the North Carolina Board of Medicine or the North Carolina Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medicine; OR If a Nurse Practitioner, must possess valid current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina. May be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the Public Health Nursing Director.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of an SBI background check and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared. In accordance with Section 28 of the Orange County Code of Ordinances, and/or relevant State and Federal statutes, candidates for employment may be required to undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history background check based on the job responsibilities of the position. A fingerprinting check is conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI)and a criminal history background check is conducted by an authorized Federal or State regulatory agency to determine eligibility for appointment. Employment is contingent upon successful clearance through these checks, which are mandated for certain roles depending on the nature of the job and applicable laws. Further, all offers of employment are contingent upon the satisfactory verification of your eligibility for employment, successful completion of the required pre-employment testing and/or screening, including drug testing when required and the submission and approval of all new hire documentation completion of your new hirepaperwork.
