This is a full-time professional position. This position provides clinical oversight, orientation, and support to newly hired clinicians during the introductory period of employment. This position is available to assist with clinical skills development and questions from established on-call nurses. This position may assist with supervising visits of on-call nurses and providing clinical education at team meetings. This position continues to carry the full responsibilities of an On-Call RN. Responsibilities what you do Comply with same duties and responsibilities of on-call nurse. Precept Hospice nurses to enable them to plan, provide, supervise and document safe, competent, and compassionate hospice nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Knowledgeable of Nurse Practice Standards, Hospice policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. Integrates this knowledge into precepting activities. Responsible for ensuring that new nurses provide, and document, appropriate and relevant end of life information and education to patients and their families in compliance with current Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs). Work collaboratively with IDG and other Transitions LifeCare (TL) departments in achieving patient care goals. Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Responsible for professional management of time, people and technology. Monitors and manages the orienting nurse's appropriate use of patients' medical equipment, supplies and medications. Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and in performance improvement activities. Direct the clinical orientation and training of new on-call nursing staff. Direct the clinical orientation and training of new staff as it relates to the admission process. Consult with Team Leader/education department on coordination of clinical requirements for staff and to ensure that all competency requirements for staff are current. Consult with clinical leads and orientees on a regular basis to provide support and determine how orientation should proceed on an individual basis. Mentor/coach staff to enhance their professional development. Provide clinical/education updates to entire staff on an as needed basis. Responsible for learning, implementing and teaching new technology and procedures. Collaborate with the Team Leader/ to improve clinical workflow processes. Promptly communicate concerns, issues, or potential risks to your immediate supervisor or another member of the management team to support a safe and effective work environment Requirements what you need Registered Nurse with current NC license; BSN preferred. Minimum 3 years recent hospice clinical experience CHPN certification preferred. Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, IDG team, physicians, facility staff, leadership and others. Ability to effectively teach skills, processes, procedures, technologies. Knowledgeable about reimbursement sources, Medicare regulations, licensing laws, and accreditation standards. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Competent computer skills Must have reliable transportation. Current CPR certification. Must be able to travel to, enter and function in the homes/facility of any patient/family in the service area to assess and provide care to all patients. May be required to lift and/or carry items up to 50 pounds. Must have sensory abilities to complete physical assessment, communicate with patient/family care providers and physician and to complete the reporting and follow-up documentation responsibilities of the job.
