Summary:
Provides professional nursing care to patients assigned to specified nursing unit. Provides patient care within the parameters of this assignment of responsibility, according to prescribed, delegated medical regimen and the hospital policies. Incumbents are accountable to the North Carolina Board of Nursing for practicing nursing within the scope of the North Carolina Nursing Practice Act.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs functions as a support nurse for the Physician/Provider, assisting them with all procedures, assessments, testing, and miscellaneous duties to support the efficient practice of the physician and the Midlevel (APC) providers - to include the Pharm D CPP (if applicable). 2. Assists with the development and expansion of a comprehensive Behavioral Health Services program to include inpatient and outpatient practice. 3.
COMPETENCE
Performs patient assessments and analyzes the data to determine the diagnoses or issues. 4. Identifies expected outcomes; formulates and documents individualized plan of care for assigned patients. 5. Implements and evaluates patient care. 6. Administers medications, treatments and therapies, and assists physicians with examinations, treatments and procedures. 7. Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served. 8. Departmental Based Accountabilities. 9.
COLLABORATION
Communicates with patient, family, team members, physicians and other care providers regarding patient care. 10.
ADVOCACY
Communicates with patients or their representatives ensuring that the patient's concerns and wishes regarding their own care are considered and communicated to pertinent care providers. 11.
TEACHING
Provides patient and/or family with instruction and education relevant to patient's condition. Assist with staff education as needed. 12. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues and assists with orienting/training other nursing employees and students. 13.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Knows and applies safety and infection control procedures. 14. Sets up, operates and/or maintains equipment and work areas. 15. Enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. 16. Models professional behavioral. 17. Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice. 18. Utilizes the principles of delegation. 19.
AUTONOMY
Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice. 20.
EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE
Integrates research findings into practice. 21.
CARING:
Treats patient, family, and staff with caring and compassion. 22. Performs miscellaneous duties, as needed, to support unit operations and the provision of care as deem by the Director of BHS (RN).
Other information:
Education Requirements:
Associate's in Nursing. Bachelor's in Nursing is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Current license to practice as a RN in North Carolina. BCLS Certification. Specialty certification is preferred.
Professional Experience Requirements:
2 years' experience in Healthcare/Medical as a Nurse. Prior experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
