1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac procedures including open heart recovery, ECMO, and IABP. Details CVICU setting within a hospital environment, functioning as a Post Open Heart Recovery Unit Patient population includes post open heart surgery, thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR cases Advanced procedures and equipment include ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT, ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD), PA/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and arterial lines Target patient ratios are 1:1 on nights and 2:1 on weekends Day shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM (3x12-hour shifts) 36 or 48 hours per week available Every other weekend required Floating is required
EMR:
Epic (experience required); medications managed via Pyxis Self-scheduling unit Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required (license pending at time of consideration is acceptable) Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Minimum 2 years of critical care (CC) experience required CVICU or open heart experience required Required skills include: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, ECMO, IABP, post cardiac surgery care (directly from OR), PA/Swan-Ganz monitoring, TAVR, LVAD/RVAD management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, titrating cardiac drips, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions/PPE Two manager or supervisor professional references from within the past 12 months are highly preferred; references are required prior to start First-time travelers will not be considered for this position Additional Information Preferred skills include: port access/management, titrating vasoactive drips, assisting with chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ventilator management Orientation consists of hospital orientation during week one, with required attendance at classes each day Approximately 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules are required; modules must also be completed annually Candidates who have previously worked as permanent, PRN, or EP staff at this health system must wait 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; additional RTO requires facility approval; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays Travel pairs are welcome, but each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules Local candidates are accepted for this position Navy or white scrubs, or a combination of both, are required Contracts are a minimum of 13 weeks, with the option for a longer assignment
