POSITION SUMMARY
The RN-Wound Care is responsible for participation in planning daily activities and providing nursing care for patients in the Wound Care Program, both in-patient and outpatient, and delivers care to patients throughout the lifespan. This employee is responsible for implementing medical orders and works with LPN-Wound Care. The RN develops teaching plans and provides direct patient education related to specific patient needs in the inpatient and outpatient settings. The RN-Wound Care cooperates and collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team members to promote optimum quality care, resulting in positive client outcomes in all services provided by the Wound Care Program. The RN- Wound Care must possess the physical capabilities to successfully perform the job as stated. Due to changing organizational needs, work hours may vary. The RN strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act and BBGH policies. The RN ensures practice is in accordance with standard of care and competency required for the area of practice. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under her/his direction). This is done, in part, through participation in performance improvement initiatives. The RN provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. Patient care may be provided in both clinical and non-clinical settings. Patient-centered care coordination is a core professional standard and competency for all registered nursing practice. Based on a partnership guided by the healthcare consumer's and family's needs and preferences, the registered nurse is integral to patient care quality, satisfaction, and the effective and efficient use of health care resources. Registered nurses are qualified and educated for the role of care coordination, especially with high risk and vulnerable populations (ANA Code of Ethics with Interpretive Statements, 11/2010). The RN has a responsibility to act as educator to their peers, patients, and their families. Patient/family education related to specific patient needs is provided in the inpatient and outpatient settings. All aspects of the RN's performance support service excellence and a healing environment. The RN identifies and communicated needed unit resources or equipment to be included in budgets. Due to changing organizational needs, work hours may vary. A 30-day notice is required when RN resigns position.

Required:
Graduate from an approved Registered Nursing Program
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Preferred Minimum of one year recent experience in an acute care setting
License/Certifications:
Required:
Nebraska RN license, or license from a participating Compact State BLS for healthcare workers
