Job Description

Where You'll Work Our Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is there for babies who need a little extra help. Each of our nine private rooms offers the best growth and development possible in a womb-like, environmentally controlled setting. With the assistance of our transport team, newborns in critical health situations can be moved by either ambulance or helicopter to Good Samaritan. Each of our nine private rooms were built roomy - large enough to accommodate the unique respiratory, nutritional and other needs of premature, multiple births or other complications that may arise after birth. Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924 CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan you'll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery a level II neonatal intensive care unit a nationally accredited cancer center comprehensive neurosurgery advanced orthopedic program and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility. Job Summary and Responsibilities As our NICU Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, you'll monitor the complex medical needs of sick and preterm infants. Every day, you will provide compassionate care, serving as their advocate; supporting their best interests when they cannot. To thrive in this role, you'll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You'll clinically care for your patients, remaining focused and attentive, as you continuously monitor them throughout your shift. Monitor patients' conditions and assess their needs. Educate parents on various interventions or procedures, medications (name and purpose), exams, etc. Assess newborns and provide care. Communicate with the care management team. Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families.

up to $10,000 sign on bonus, up to $10,000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years) Nurse Residency offered for all New Graduates Job Requirements Required Graduate of an RN nursing program Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska or nurse licensure compact. BLS (Basic life support) through American Heart Association NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required within 6 months of hire.
