Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of patient care within medical-surgical settings, demonstrating expertise in managing diverse clinical situations with professionalism and compassion. As a Med Surg RN, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care, coordinating patient assessments, and ensuring adherence to safety and documentation standards. Duties Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with various medical conditions, including acute and chronic illnesses. Conduct thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and interpret physiological data to inform care plans. Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following proper aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with diagnostic procedures including laboratory specimen collection, catheterization, suturing, and wound care. Manage complex cases involving pain management, infection control, trauma medicine, or post-operative recovery. Educate patients and their families on health management strategies, discharge instructions, and medication administration. Requirements Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing within hospital or inpatient settings. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation. Knowledge of critical care procedures including ventilator management, airway management, and acute pain control. Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal care, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Competence in performing IV insertions, phlebotomy, specimen processing, and aseptic techniques. Ability to handle high-pressure situations typical of emergency room or Level I/II trauma center environments. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and CPT coding for procedures. Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care and team collaboration.
